Tour Description
:Puerto Vallarta and Banderas Bay host a great variety of birds species in its varied habitats and ecosystems that range from mountains, tropical forests, rivers, mangroves, creeks and shorelines. The diversity is so great that the region boasts up to 350 different bird species in this area. That’s almost HALF of all bird species found in the U.S. and Canada combined!
Will invite you to a great area to experience bird watching in Puerto Vallarta, ALWAYS small groups and guided by one of Vallarta’s top birders.
On an average day, we may observe up to 40 species such as military macaw, citreoline trogon, elegant quail, bat falcon, great kiskadee, and San Blas jays, among others.
We have 4 great destinations for birding:
BIRDS OF PARADISE
Introduction to the Birds of the Area as we travel south from Puerto Vallarta, we can see “jungle” birds as we climb up the roadway from the village of Mismaloya and Nogalito river.
TROPICAL FOREST BIRDING TOUR
Departure to Las Juntas y Los Veranos on the Sierra Madre, birding through a semi-deciduous tropical forest. The variety of birds changes from sea level to highest point oak forest. Afterwards we’ll continue to the new botanical garden where you will visit a beautiful collection of orchids.
THE SIERRA OF EL TUITO
Mountain and Tropical Birds Departure to El Tuito on the Sierra Madre, birding in an oak and pine forest home of unique endemics.
EL COLORADO (North of the bay)
Departure to el Colorado. Continental Breakfast is served (Picnic style). Birding through a semi-deciduous tropical forest and we’ll have time to fill our checklist. Afterwards we’ll continue to restaurant at Quelele Lagoon, visit a protected wildlife reserve immersed deep in wetlands and mangrove forests that shelter crocodiles as well as other fauna species.
