El Morro Scuba Expedition Only for Scuba Divers with 50 Logged Dives
El Morro is known for its series of pinnacles that rise from the floor of the ocean, riddled with dozens of caves and tunnels waiting to be explored in a lush undersea world that teems with life. It is located 26 miles out from Puerto Vallarta in the Pacific Ocean.
It lies beyond the protected waters of the Bay of Banderas. The rocks are populated by an incredible number of migratory and no migratory fish. Commonly seen are Moorish Idols, Leather Bass, Golden Eye Grunts, Razor Surgeons, Harlequin Wrasse, The great Pacific Manta, Sailfish, Dolphins, Turtles, large schools of Jacks and occasionally whale sharks during May – June – July.
Are few of the Dive sites you may encounter :
El Morro Grande: At El Morro Grande the pinnacle rises from 140 ft, the rock is only 40 ft high above sea level with dozens of tunnels very large and spacious. 195 ft tunnel across the main pinnacle starting at 30 ft and exiting in 45 ft of water. One of the very best dives in the area.
El Morro Chico: More caves, more tunnels and much smaller El Morro Grande, the particularity of this site are the nurse sharks and the amazing quantity of schooling snappers in the area.
El Bajo Del Medio: This is a submerge pinnacle located between El Morro Grande and El Morro Chico and is a great dive from June to October. Although it is a simple pinnacle, this is our best site for whale sharks.
Las Chichis: 3 submerged sea mounts, 80 ft apart from each other and the top of the sea mounts at 30 ft of depth. This site is packed with schools of trigger fish, damsels, snappers and green moray eels and occasionally grey sharks.
El Bajo De Los Tiburones: This is an underwater ridge 80 to 120 ft deep with a sand bottom on each side to 140 ft. Excellent chances to dive with small packs of grey sharks during the winter months and an exciting blue water dive during the summer months aiming for mantas, sailfish, wahoo, yellow tails and whale sharks.
Our favorite boat to service this trip is a 33 ft mono hull powered by 2-250 h.p. yamaha outboards, the Bottom Time is the best dive boat of it’s type in all Vallarta, has the best stability, unmatchable comfort and it is fast . Totally carpeted and 100% shaded, all safety regulations including Oxygen, first aid kit, life jackets, radio and on-board insurance.

Conditions June to December U/W Visibility 30 to 100 ft Temperature 78 to 85 (F)
